Default Breather tube on back side of cam cover?

There is a tube sticking out of the back of cam cover. There was a broken piece of plastic inside this tube, well, a piece was in the cam cover, with the remainder in that tube. Any idea what that plastic piece does? Do I need a new one? I dont see it in the parts book.

Part number 25329-91...was a recommended retrofit for older bikes...some people say use them...some say don't

Wow...there were a total of 3 of the little ring looking parts left with mine, counting the one in the cam chest...wonder where the rest of that stuff ended up

I remember those goofy baffles... and I bet when it "broke up" it simply blew out the Crankcase Breather hose...
I suspect the plan was for that "baffle" to somehow catch oil on its way out the Crankcase breather???

No Way I put anything in the Breather Path... as I know how difficult breathing is for a Big Twin in the first place...

BTW; WTH happened to the end of that "tube"

There ia no way I'm putting another of those things in there, based on the way that one was broken.
the tube...it was bunged up when I took the cover off, looked like someone had tried to crimp it to keep that baffle thing from coming out? I did try to massage it back to somewhat round.

It was a baffle to cut down on some of the oil mist making its way to the stock air filter. YD
