Default Oh for the love of all things holy.... 89 EG

... could someone tell me how to get the seat off of this 89 elec glide ultra cl ..... I feel about as worthless as ***** on a chicken right now but I can’t figure it out..... it’s not a simple seat bolt lift and pull

I decided tonight was the night to remove the tour pack which was a 2 hour ordeal... then I started thinking well I already know the seat will eventually get swapped so I thought I would try and see how much trouble it would be.... well so now I’m here again with more questions 🤪

it looks to me like it is bolted to the grab rail in 4 places and maybe somewhere else....

Well, on my 86, you just undo the 2 bolts under the seat that go to the plate the grab rail is on. Take the saddle bag lids off first and use a gear wrench. 7/16", if I recall.

that's how the seat comes of of my 85. i don't know what's involved with the tour pac on an 89 but my 85 comes off in about 10 minutes max.

Same with my 1990. Taking the bag lids off will make the screw heads easier to see.

With a box end wrench, it takes like 10 minutes. With a gear wrench, it takes like 2. For the fairing, with a box end it takes, oh, half hour, 45 minutes to take it off with a box end wrench. With the gear wrench, 10 minutes.
