Default Internal throttle cable on Apes ? Is it Possible.

Can you run an internal throttle cable on ape hangers ? I’m not talking about throttle by wire either. I mean an actual cable.

I have no idea but personally I wouldn't as it would make changing the cables a pure pain in the ***.

Yes, yes and yes. Here is a picture of my 1997 Wide Glide, I went full internals, throttle cable, hydraulic clutch line and brake line. I used the internal throttle from Exile Cycles, real nice piece. I have been checking out the new one from Nash Customs, his negates the return spring allowing for built in cruise control. My two older bike have no return springs and I have started to prefer that setup for long rides and rider fatigue. But if you like the return spring, I would recommend Exile unit all day. J&P sells one, it is junk stay away.

I customized the cable housing to put the adjuster elbow above the carb under the gas tank. Yes to adjust the cable I have to remove the rear tank bolt and lift the tank with a 2x4 , not a big deal as it is not something you do every 500 miles. And it is as clean as a nuns .........

What a clean looking bike! Anything that claims to be remotely custom should not have cables and zip ties all over the place.
Looks great!!

I'll say this. If you want to run an internal throttle, it will work on apes, but only buy one specific one. I have tried a few and the only one to use is the one from exile cycles. All of the other are shitty. Take my advice and spend the couple bucks more for an exile.

Seems simpler to convert an outboard motor throttle..............It is already done.

More simple then utilizing a part made for the desired application:

http://www.exilecycles.com/index.php/parts/handlebars

Not to mention this is basically a newer version of the "spirals" used by HD for throttle and timing advance on the older bikes.

Indeed - I don't like apes, but those bare bars look remarkably good. I'd like to know how the clutch cable has been hidden - or what it's been replaced with?
