While I have the wheels off for tires, I'll check them. Those press in sealed bearings aren't the most reliable in the world. And the bike is 23 years old.

Your bike should have the Timken bearings in the wheels. IIRC, The MoCo didn't go to the sealed bearing until the 2000 model year. Good idea to clean and repack anytime tires are changed.
After eight months of working on this bike in my spare time, it is as done as it is going to be for me. I had to trash and replace all of the rusted parts, and threw in some ElectraGlide stuff on it. It runs great and is as smooth as silk.

Some of the older aftermarket wheels came with 3/4" sealed bearings like the later bikes did and somebody made a conversion kit for timkens to sealed bearings that was going around for a while, never took off big thankfully, I've run across a few of them.
