CV Carb advice
I've been doing a little "winter" upgrades to my '88 Ultra. I had the heads ported and polished, a cam installed and the top end redone. Put head pipes from a 05 Road Glide and V&H Twin Slash slipon's on, all last winter. It ran fine all summer but I felt like there was more there.
So recently installed a Wimmer Better sucker air cleaner kit. CV Performance kit and replace the slide, both jets the needle, and any rubber parts that came with the rebuild kit. also replaced the air-fuel mixture adjustment screw with the a easy adjustment screw from CV Performance.
I can get the bike to start and idle just fine. When I put the choke cable in it wanted to die. I turned the idle screw in a little and it will idle now. When I give it any throttle it bogs, has a little black smoke from the exhaust, puff of white smoke and fuel out of the carb and then dies.
I changed the jets from 180/44 original to 185/45 as advise with the performance kit. Noticed the problem and thought I was getting too much fuel so went back to original. Didn't help. Thought I might be getting too much air so I taped off half of the inlet on the backing plate (without the air filter installed). Didn't help. Have the air-fuel mixture screw about 2 full turns out.
Also replaced the rubber gasket between the carb and manifold.
Hope I gave enough info. Any info would be GREAT!!!!!

Or, the old one can get stuck up in the bore and not come out when removing the old idle mix screw. Check to make sure all is present and accounted for.
If not, a little bend on the end of a paper clip to use as a hook might pull the old one out. But, go lightly and don't scratch up the bore. YD
