Default Twin cam carb on an EVO?

So I haven't done much to my bike since I got it except change fluids, new rotor - stator - rectifier, and going to upgrade the suspension this weekend. I was looking for a high flow air filter and none of the backing plates looked right. I google my carb (27414 99A) and its for a 2000-2001 FXR, FXST, or FXD. It started sneezing at cruising speeds lately so I was going to clean it and change jets but should I now get a carb made for my '91 FLHS?

the sneezing is the low speed jet is too small or its clogged a bit the fuel today has us running richer jets then before so 44 or 45 in the low speed and see what happens

some guys have had no issues with the 44 MM 2 cam carb and some have had issues

they want to be a lot richer then the evo carb to work the same

Answer is yes, a twincam carb will fit and run great. I took a 2000 cv and installed on a 1991 touring and it fit perfect and the old EVO never ran better.

There were a few years where they were the same carb, except for minor jetting differences based on engine displacement.

The CV40 is a great carb for up to 100hp.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a good cleaning, rejet and see where it takes me.

If cleaning does not solve it, then your intake manifold seals might be giving up the ghost. They go bad with age and use. Not expensive, but a little bit of a hassle to replace. YD

I put a 92 Softail CV40 & Evo intake manifold on my 07 96" Dyna when I ripped off that damn EFI crap. Perfect fit!

I'd put that on the "may as well" list as long as you're in there. Cheap insurance
against having to take it all back apart again.

Hi all, and sorry for the post hijack...

I have a 1998 FLHR (1340 EVO) with a TC Carb.... Everything is stock except for a Vance&Hines naked air cleaner. Used to have decel popping, now I have coughing on acceleration (mostly when the bike is cold), and I was looking to buy a CV Performance Tuners kit (for the jets and needle etc). Should I get the TC kit or the EVO kit (which would have different or idk smaller jets)?? Harley mechanics are scarce down here, and not much good either.

Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers!

If your bike was not coughing before with the current carb, and now it is, then I would again suspect intake seals.

If I recall, the carbs for the twin cam have larger jets than the evo setups. But I would take a look at what jets you currently have in the carb already. I would also give the carb a good cleaning along with changing the O-rings. Especially if the O-rings have some age. YD
