Ok, plan B now. The roll of nickels will not fit inside the bars. My aftermarket bar ID is 0.8". So I'm back into looking filling with lead shot or sinkers.

What about a chunck of 3/4" steel bar wrapped in tape maybe with a tapped hole in the end to aid in removal?

Actually, I did find someone selling exactly that for metric cruisers.

Update: Found lead sinkers at a sporting good store that was slightly over sized. Due the shape (six pointed) I drove then in by lightly tapping with a hammer and a brass drift. Able to get 9oz per side.
