Default Component ID help....Shovelution???

So I have a new project and can't ID the motor. The previous owner says 16" strokes made from an evo which to me seems strange....then I got looking at it. Compression releases, dual plug heads, what appear to be shovel style jugs with evo heads and bottom....add external oil lines and a mikuni carb... Head has an embossed P on it....jugs have an E with a circle and the numbers 8-75 D on them. Case numbers say 83 FL, 1340 displacement and made in Milwaukee.... And help or ideas would help so I don't have to strip it to see.... This is ponderous.

Yup, and I could never understand why. I likened that to when some people were having the center post cut out of the 1963 Stingray rear window to make it look like a '64. The Panhead and Sholvelhead engines were the finest looking motors Harley ever made. Everything after them was just plain vanilla.

It's an Evo top end over a shovel bottom end, what's 'ponderous' about that?! Does it run OK? If so ride on - and let us know how it rides!

Yep Shovelhead case and jugs, older oil pump. Evo heads and lifter blocks, lifters and probably an Evo cam in that too with the big axle rollers I'll bet, which is a nice upgrade. Quite the return lines for the oil in the heads still a bottom breather.... The biggest issue with that is that it definitely must be running flat top pistons cuz you ain't going to use Shovelhead Pistons with EVO heads. I would definitely take some kind of compression test just to see where you're at...
