Default FXR Front Motor Mount Torque

The long center bolt for the front motor mount has a torque spec of 35-45 ft. lbs according to the service manual. Guys are saying they use as low as 10 ft. lbs. and high as 80 ft. lbs. What are you all torquing to? I have a vibration, have ensured that center bolt isn't binding, but not sure about tq specs.

As near as I can tell, this is one of those "black magic" type questions.

Some guys run them tight. Some run them loose...so loose that use a jam nut to keep the nut on.

I replaced mine a while back, and the personality of the vibrations changed with it. There is a resonance right at 1200 or so. I knocked my idle down a smidge so it's not shaking as much at idle.

I played around with the torque, and ended up deciding to run it on the loose side. Seems to work best for me.

But I think this largely is a function of the particulars of your specific mount, your engine, etc. I think you just have to find the torque that works for you.

I used the book figure. There is a danger in reading too much - a lot of black magic out there has no sound logical basis.
