Default Muffler Heat Shield confusion

Hey, everybody! I have a couple of dumb questions about the exhaust system on my '96 Heritage...

When I bought it a year ago, it came with a muffler heat shield installed on the front muffler only, as you can see in this pic.

If I look at Ronnie's HD online parts breakdowns for a '96 Heritage, it shows two different part numbers for the muffler heat shield, which is item #31 in the diagram.

The top one is part number 65813-95 and it seems to show there's only one of these needed on the bike.

The lower one is part number 65864-95 and it seems to show there's two needed.

What's the difference between the two, and what's correct for my bike?

Only having one on the front muffler and not the rear muffler seems wrong and "unbalanced" to my eye, but maybe there's a good reason for not having one on the back muffler?

Thanks in advance for any clarification you can provide.

I'm thinking that the idea behind having only one is because of the bags.
No one can put a leg against the muffler with the bag in place on that side.
I have seen many "anomalous" things in the HD parts books over the years.
If you feel strongly about having a heat shield on the rear muffler, Try placing the shield you have on the rear muffler to ensure it fits okay and if it looks good to you, order a second heat shield if you can find one.

Is it possible that the second shield for the rear muffler was for catalyst equipped bikes? Can't remember if any markets had catalysts in '95.

When i had a 99 heritage with a stock exhaust there was a heat shield on both mufflers from the factory. Kind of hard to tell in the picture but there is one on the rear muffler.
