Anyone ever mount a new tour pack on and older bike?
Hey everyone,
I have a 94 FLHR and have been doing the constant search for a tour pack not torn up and in my color scheme. I have found many that are both but are 97 up. Is there a trick to mounting something like this on a 96 down or possibly an adapter part that I don't know about? Im always learning so if there was an obvious solution to fixing this you can start the sighs and eye rolling right out the gate. Im not a snowflake I can take the hazing as a new member. LOL Thanks!

You can build one from scratch. Go to Cavalry fiberglass and get the one you like. Add hinges, latches, tether, luggage rack, etc. to taste and mount them. You will have to find a tour pak mounting frame for your year bike. Then I had a sheet metal bracket made for my bike to mount the pak to the mounting frame. The bracket raised the tourpak up enough so the saddlebag lids could be fully opened. Then simply drill mounting holes to mount the pak to the sheet metal bracket. Have the whole thing painted and you're done.
If the $$$$ signs are getting bigger and bigger to you, yeah this is expensive but in the end you will have what you want and it will be a custom fit for your bike.
If you do find a used tourpak that works, all you will need is a homemade bracket to mount it to the frame. I had mine made from Stainless steel. Any halfway decent independent bike shop can get it made for you. Most of them have a machine shop they send stuff out to.
good luck

There's no trick, nor any mysteries, to installing any tourpak forwards or backwards in time. They are all held on by four bolts. If the holes don't line up they are easy to drill and plug as necessary. As for their electrics that can be adapted easily enough to your bike, it just needs a little time and effort. If you buy one we can walk you through what needs to be done.
