Default Changing the front motor mount

In the other thread I mentioned I had to change the tires but also I have to change the front motor mount. I was watching a YouTube video that described the process and it mentioned using a ratchet strap to move the engine and trans forward about 1/8 in after the new mount is set on the frame, that way they are pushed against the rear swing arm bushing. Is this correct or is possible damage can result from the strain the straps would cause?

Don't know, but if the engine/trans can move 1/8" forward, you probably want to change out the cleve blocks... Never changed one, so hopefully someone who has will guide you in the correct direction.

Joe put your bike on a jack and get it level and stable, unbolt the old mount. It seems to me I used a small pry bar to move the engine enough to get the mount out and the new one in. Bolt up the new mount but not **** tight. Take it out for a 5 mile ride come back and and tighten it down to spec. This will allow the engine to find "home" and settle in place
Others may disagree but that's how it was passed on to me. Good luck.

When I changed mine, admittedly some years ago, I supported the engine on a scissor jack to take the weight and remove the old mount. I don't recall doing anything special to install the new one. I also changed the rear mounts at the same time.

Lift the front of the motor, unbolt the old mount, bolt in the new mount, set the motor down, Go for a ride.

Yeah....It's that simple.
