Oil in Carb. What gives?

I'd still keep an eye on my oil level for a while. Even though you're routing the hose under the bike, the rubber breather valves in the rocker boxes can harden and cease to function properly with age and miles. If you are "using" oil, that's one place to look before tearing down the motor. IOW, rerouting the hose fixes the symptom, but not necessarily the cause.

Will do. Only has 6K miles but still 20 years old. Most gaskets and rubber are brittle and I am replacing them as we speak. Thanks for the info.

Agree Probably the crankcase breather Especially since you said you're bring it back from the dead it's been sitting awhile so not unusual to puke oil

I mention this, because I had to replace the flapper valves in my motor back in '12. Suddenly, the breather started bathing the right side of the bike in oil. Since replacing them, I have virtually no oil carryover anymore.
