Today i was finally able to get my bike back to the shop

In the meantime i soaked the salvaged OE H-D unit in WD-40 then sprayed it full of lithium grease

The tech swapped the aftermarket unit for the salvaged OE H-D unit and it works perfectly

Its too bad that H-D stopped producing these units...

The tech never changed a thing from the previous installs so if there is anybody out there in the future experiencing drive unit issues i would highly suggest trying to find an OE H-D salvaged unit, cleaning it, lubing it and using it over the aftermarket unless they come out with a better product..

Remove the wire retainer clip and disassemble the drive, clean then lube with green Harley wheel bearing grease.

Check the fit of the drive tab to the brake rotor, make sure the slot in the rotor is wide and tall enough for the tab to float.

Enlarge the slot with a file if need be.

When everything is assembled, the tab should be free to move around in the slot.

The wheel bearing grease I got from Harley is blue.
How many different ones do they have?

Yea, it's maybe more blue than green or somewhere in between.

You must have something different than I got or Harley changed their grease since I bought mine.

It's been several years since I got mine so maybe I got the old stuff.

Is Harley grease different? I assume it's more expensive.

Well, he works at a dealer, the grease is good stuff, water resistant and available to him.

Doc Hess got me using it when he told of his experience with it verses aftermarket greases.

Yeah, it's blue. "The word on the street" is that it is a private label Kendal wheel bearing grease. Works much better than anything else in my personal experience and that of the indy shop I used to go to that turned into a dealership.
