Default Tappet screen bolt

I have the proper tool for the job but the head of the bolt is buggerd up a little. Enough so I can't get any torque to beak it free. I have the "jims" tappet bolt socket head as well as some large standard screw driver heads on 3/4 drive sockets still can't get that sumbitch loose. Next step weld one of the screw driver sockets onto the bolt? Any sneeky tricks out there?

If you don't care about the bolt then I'd just grab it with some vice grips and turn it that way.

Do you have any jeweler's files?
If so clean out the groove and try the tool again.

Or

Can you fit an impact screwdriver on the screw?

I blunted the end of a cold chisel to use like a screwdriver and used vice grips on the chisel, tapped the chisel a few times to loosen it up.

Used this first. Nothing went to the standard socket head nothing but more slop on the top of the bolt....

Like THC said, if you don't care about the cap...use a chisel blunted and tap against the back side of slot off center to break loose, you will mess up the slot though.

This, and I've also used a dremel & cutoff wheel to clean & deepen the slots.
