Default Strange turn signal problem

The bike is a '94 FXSTC

The turn signals don't work at hwy speeds but work fine at idle or with the bike turned off.

I checked grounds and put a voltage meter on it and both were fine.

The only thing I can think to do is just toss a new TSM on it but I don't like just throwing parts at a problem.

Do y'all have any ideas?????

Guess #1: Some connection is iffy and gets disrupted at highway speed.

Guess #2: Voltage regulator is stuffed and sends too much into the system at high RPM.

I haven't messed with the connector on the TSM.
You think the problem is there?

The voltage at 2k rpms is 14.2-14.3.

Sounds like a pinched wire to me. Mine had an intermittent ground. Like you said, worked fine shut off or at idle but wouldn't work at speed. Found wires cut where they go thru rear fender. Good luck!

Didn't think of that.

I just went thru this with mine. only it was for the left turns, could not find anything wrong with the connecter to the TSM, even slipped the wires out of the connector. Sometime it worked and sometimes not. Mostly under way it quit. Strange thing was it looked like a mouse chewed some of the rubber they have sealing the unit. I Put a new TSM in it and all is good now. There is a fellow on EBAY selling what he called factory refurbished units. Looked brand new to me. Around $55 dollars they were

Could be the reed switch in the speedo malfunctioning...disconnect the green/white wire...if it works...that is your problem.

I tested it and it is an RPM thing instead of a speed thing.

In other words with the bike in neutral revved up to 2.5k-3k rpms the problem happens.
