Default starter clutch

Alright bought a new starter for a custom bike. Working on getting it running starter clutch went out. I thought it's a reman starter who knows how good the starter clutch was. Bought an all ***** put it in only got maybe a dozen turns on it and it's slipping. I know my timing is off so it's probably a little rough turning over but shouldn't the clutch be tough enough to stall the motor before it goes out? Is there a warranty on the clutches should I take It back? Came from j and p.

If a Harley Evo engine is turning over slow and dragging, even a Allballs starter clutch won't hold up. Slow cranking with a kick back is a recipe for disaster and the noise from hell when the clutch ratchets, get the other issues fixed and a AllBalls clutch can handle starting BIG engines with no issues.

I'd load test your battery too if you haven't done that yet.

Of all the issues I do have the battery isn't one of the them. It's kinda hard to work on the problems when you can't turn the bike over.

Even if it is new it could still have issues. Load test it just for grins after it is fully charged up by auto parts place.

You could retard the timing a degree or two if you believe it is off to help in the turning over/firing of the plugs when trying to start it. Doesn't have to be running to do that and it might help.

Cables would be the next place to check if all else is good as even good looking ones can have issues internally.
