Ignition Lock Question

Ignition Lock Question
Hi friends. Seeking advice and help on removing the ignition lock from a '96 FLHTP. I have tried several times to remove it, explicitly following the FSM. There is no release pin dropping down under the switch cover to depress and release the thing...
Please tell me what I am missing here. Key and switch operate properly otherwise.

the release pin is under the switch ... turn it all the way clockwise ... use a small screwdriver to push the pin up ... and turn the key all the way to the left ... it should lift out at that point ... you should find the release pin under the switch toward the left side once the switch is fully turned clockwise ... you won't see it, you have to feel for it

Thats how I'm doing it. I've shined a light up under the switch and can see nothing that looks like a release. I only have about 1/8" between the bottom of the switch housing and the fairing cap... less than 1/4" even by deflecting the cap down a little. It's barely enough room to slide a small screwdriver thru the gap. I'm not sure how I could get in there to feel for it.
Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's much appreciated.

Thanks, I really appreciate the trouble you went to helping me out! I stepped away from the bike for a while, had a couple relaxing beverages and dove back in. I was a little more firm moving the fairing cap down and was able to get the thing off after another try.
I watched a video on youtube, but it was a slightly different style lock, and it looked like the release pin dropped down a little below the switch housing, where mine was up inside the cap... just like you said it would be!
Thanks again for the help!
