Don't forget to lever down the lock tab on the thrust washer.

Thanks. I was looking for something more complicated, but that will work. LOL. Just to confirm, that nut has to come off to get the inner primary off?

I would add to use a drop of locktite on it also as I had a layover in Little Rock while they fixed the issue of the bolt on my 94 coming loose even with the tab holding it. Guy said he sees it a lot when there is no locktite on them.
It chewed up the coupling, so I had to buy the jack shaft kit to get it fixed. $385 and it was worth it as I had ridden up from Houston and it was 95 degrees up there. Everything was up to operating temperature let's just say.. LOL..
I had just fixed it two days earlier when it came loose on me before I left and I just used the tab on a new piece to secure it.
Locktite from now on. Always..

There ain't nothing complicated about it.
And yes you have to take the starter jackshaft off to get the inner primary off.
As Griz says locktight is your friend.

love the evo!
Appreciate advice. Good one on the locktite, will do. Went through primary last summer, had plug failure at rotor/stator. Fried the wiring. Fixed that and then this summer came back from a ride and was thinking wow this bike runs so sweet. Went out next morning and a puddle of tranny fluid coming from behind primary.
