Here are some things to consider, if you are not having spark.

1. Bad battery. You must get the battery fully charged, if you want decent test.

2. Bike died, then started again after awhile might point to bad/cracked coil.

3. Loose wires, such as grounding. Ignition relay.

Wouldn't I get 12v at +/- on coil when I have ignition switch on?

You should get ~12V at the coil with ignition turned on. If you are not, then you will have to trace your wire back. Again, ensure you have a fully charged battery. You can always check primary and secondary of your coil later. Sounds like a bad battery, connections, or grounding. Good luck.

Just unplugged trickle charger, headlight ,air horns, and plenty of cranking amps.bike always kicked over quick, never died while driving! I'm leaning toward ignition can sensor, how can I test?

When that happened to my '94...it acted like Carburetion for almost a week...long enough for me to try at least 2 different Carbs...
Turned out to be the Ignition module..Kinda went into business for itself...
Replaced it with an 1100 Sportster module, and Never been Happier!!!

Did you load test your battery?

Now, you are jumping around. Did you retest your voltage at coil? Try to start up the bike?

What is a ignition can sensor? Do you mean a crank position sensor?

Do you have a service manual for your bike? You should get one. It will have all the steps for diagnosis, so you can eliminate stuff, without having to jump around.

Again, good luck.

On a '95???
Nah....plug in any old Module, and see if it gets better...the pick-up is almost indestructible, I have never had a bad one...but...now that I said that...it will be the problem right????
Easy is good...stick a Module in it....

Racepes, you're right. Probably meant cam position sensor. Doesn't sound like a timing problem. Back to grounding or battery.

Check the cam position sensor for brown goo leaking out of it. that is a tell tale sign that they are failing. happened to my 1998 ultra.
