Default 99 Road King front wheel/tire upgrade question

I'm going to upgrade the wifes 99 Road King to an 18 x 3.5 HD Airstrike front wheel, Avon AV71 Cobra 130/70B18 front tire and brembos. I have all of the components except the tire and new brake lines.

Do I need the fender extenders to lift the fender a bit to install this wheel and tire?

My plan is to do this when she is gone for a couple of days helping a girlfriend after surgery, so I want to be sure to have everything on hand.

I put an enforcer on my 05 Electra glide to replace the stock 16 an it fit under the fender fine. What are you doing about the axle?

If that wheel is a 19" it should be fine....a 21" requires a fender spacer.

The rolling diameter of all the stock front wheels, 16", 17", 18" and 19", are almost identical, thanks to each size using lower profile tyres. So no need to change your fender.

A Metzeler 130/70-18 will fit no problem. I used to run one on my 98 fatboy ( i believe our front ends are identical) and am now running a 120/60zr19 and still have 3/4" of clearance

Well, I think I'm going to make a bushing for the clamp end and use a 3/4 inch bearing kit for the install. The speedo is electronic on her RK, so no need to worry about a speedo drive. I'll probably drill thru the bushing and into the large end of the axle under the clamp and install a set screw to prevent any movement, not that there would be any.

I've also heard of guys cutting the bushing so that when you tighten the clamp it compresses the bushing.

Thanks everybody for your input!

I was wondering if you changed the lowers....you can buy 1" to 3/4 adapters on ebay....not sure about 25mm.
