I visit a few of the other forums here but the nicest and most helpful people are right here in the Evo section. Some of these sections get pretty nasty. I guess us old farts mellow with age. Plus, we are under less stress because our bikes are actually dependable

Certainly some number of us choose to own Evos (even exclusively) versus the newer bikes. A conscious choice. That in itself speaks of a different mind-set than the one that tends toward the 'latest/greatest'. There's probably lots of things that make the Evo board a more hospitable environment than some other forums. (I agree, BTW, that it IS more hospitable).

As I've aged I've gained a lot more understanding of other people...and myself, which probably led to the former thing. I see people's motives, good and bad, a lot more clearly. I'd say a good part of the 'nastiness' on the forums is nothing but folks who are immature. I'm not talking about age, but maturity. It's easy to be a little blind to the validity of others when you're wholly into yourself. For me, maturity is becoming less ego-centric. Babies are wholly ego-centric. Mature people are much less so.
