Wow Mr. Brown. Are those the same saddle bags you currently have on Hyacinth?

Very impressive......

No, the frame of that Super Glide is pretty well the same as the Electra Glides of the day, so they are stock Glide bags, which bolted right on. All I had to do was relocate the rear flashers, here (bottom corner of each bag!):

When I bought Hyacinth I was told it was the same blue as earlier panheads. I later discovered that was wrong, however it sewed the idea. My batwing and tourpak were both secondhand when I bought them (and different colours), so to make everything 'fit' I painted bags, tourpak and batwing birch white, same as my '74, but also the same as early dressers. You could have any colour of bike you liked back then, but it came with birch white glass-fibre-work.

When I went over there in 1974 I was waiting for that bike to be delivered. I recall seeing only one Harley, an Electra Glide. In '76, mine was probably the only Harley over there, I don't recall any others. In '74 we only had one Harley dealer in the whole of the British Isles, by '76 there were several, but H-D was still finding it's feet over here, for new bike sales.

The US forces left an enormous amount of hardware over here when they left after WW2, so we had a fairly strong sidevalve following, thanks to all the despatch rider bikes and spares that were left, but later models were almost non-existent. In those 'pioneer' days most UK Harley owners didn't know what a modern one looked like!

Reread the thread just for grins. Even tho it's few months old.

Just for conversation we hadn't seen 89flht in a bit. Matter of fact his posts in the EVO meet thread this year were the last I remember.

Bout 2 wks ago I was looking at my phone and ran across his number.
I texted him just for grins and got a response.

He said things had been good and real busy for him. Had been getting some riding in with the good weather and just enjoying.

The bike was doing so good he hadn't gotten on the forum much but would try to stop in and say hi.
