Brake Squeal is Driving Me Nuts!
OK Guys. Im at my wits end with this darn front brake squeal. The squeal comes in right before the bike comes to a complete stop. The brake pads are HD and look good so, short of replacing them, here is what I have tried:
Sprayed the back of the pads with Permatex Disc Brake Pad Anti-Squeal, Sanded the glaze off of the pads with 80 grit paper, Beveled the leading edge of the pads, and De-glazed the rotors with steel wool. After doing all of that, they still squealed so, I removed the pads again and put anti-seize grease at all metal-to metal contact points and the caliper mounting bolt sleeves. It still squeaks. It sounds like some kind of harmonic squawk instead of a high pitch squeak. At this point, I am not opposed to replacing the pads. Any ideas? Thanks

This might help. Remove the pads and clean the Permatex Disc Brake Squeel "crap" off of them. Wipe a thin film of silicone based grease on the perimeter of the caliper piston that come in contact with the disc brake pad. This has resolved the problem hundreds of times for me in the automotive and motorcycle field. Good Luck.
