Can o' Worms - Need New Tires

I've been using Avons since Harleys came on Goodyears! Their current tyre for us is their Cobra, which replaces the much loved Venom. If you change brand always check the website for the correct pressures. Avon for example use slightly higher pressures than stock tyres, which will let you get the most out of them.

I only had one set of Avons way back when I ran a Yamaha. Must have been a bad set, as they couldn't be balanced to run true. I had them for 600 miles then threw them away and bought Dunlops. I know lots of people here swear by them, but I'll never buy Avon tires again for anything.
I've run 26 Dunlop 402 wide whitewalls rears and 11 Dunlop 402 wide whitewall fronts on my '94 Softail, and haven't had a bad one yet. Are their better tires out there? Probably, but I'm not into experimenting these days.

That's what I did and I have been very happy with the results.
The only down side is that the E3's nor the American Elites come in WWW (I believe) but the performance is so much better I could care less.YMMV.

E3s were ok but not great in cold and wet ...But the only reason mileage has been a problem on avons is guys don't go with tire manufacture spec. Not bike manufacture. Avons use some real high air pressure. Like almost 50 in rear 43 -45 in front. Got 16,000 and they look to be ok but I won't run them too much further...

Oh boy, oh boy... A tire thread...
Oh well....
I've always run the HD Dunlops on my 93 FLHS. Just put a new set on. In 23 years, I've never had a puncture. Never had a flat spot. Never had one off balance. They always held up well. Are they the 'best handling' tire? Not by a long shot. The compound in hard. They tend to wander and hydroplane a bit. High speeds are not their realm.
I've posted it before, and I'll post it again: I probably wouldn't know how to ride the damn thing if it had a 'good' set of tires on it..... In the past (when I was younger), I rode long distances, dry/wet/cold/hot. Loaded the bitch down like the pack mule she really is. Now, I ride mostly interstates in my 35 mile commute back/forth to work. So other than the occasional on/off ramp, there aren't a lot of twisties to run. The heaviest load is my fat *** and my lunch box.

for the first 40 K I used Lops 401's and 402's on my Heritage.. Got 10k on all four rears and 20k on both fronts.. Didn't have an issue with them..
At 40K I went with the Mich's comd II's.. I got 12.5k out the rear, but what surprised me what the front was also worn out at the same time.. Plus they both started cupping around 8K.. no more of them for me..
This past fall I had some American Elites put on.. ??? So far no problems and I happy with them, Can't really say they are worse or better than the others, they are just tires and do the job..
over all I was looking for a good riding and longer mileage VS the rear 401's..
