Default true duals on 1988 softail fxstc Help needed

Hello..
My first topic so bear with me and my english : )

I have search this forum in and out and i still not sure if i have it right.
can i get a set off samson True duals on my bike?
I don't want a set where the exhaust goes all the way on the primary side.

I've seen some sell these sets on ebay but every picture ( almost ) is off an newer harley. but they state it will fit my year off bike?

I know there is some things that can come in the way off it so i post some pictures of where the left side exhaust is going, between the engine and oil tank.
And i think my primary is good to go.

Thx

ltonator wise

If someone can link where to buy a set off 33 inch so they will fit with streched bags i will be very happy : )

You want a set of duals but don't want one to come out your primary side correct?
Nothing easier just buy a set and put them on.
Most pipes fit about an 84-14 so you're good there.
Most aftermarket pipes nowadays come with ports for the O2 sensors so you will have to buy plugs for them.

when i say that i don't want them to go over all my primary i mean that i found these.http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com...e-dual-headers
i don't think that look good.
But just as long as they come out like samson`s do its fine.
thx texashillcountry for quick reply.

i just dont wanna spend 1600 dollars on a samson true duals if they diddent fit : )

i see now that i may go with bassini they offer dual for a 1989 : )

Most of the true duals for evo softails say they fit 95-99...this is because the older bikes do not have the holes drilled in the frame on the left side...if you drill the holes they will fit.

FWIW I had to drill the holes on my '95.

Hey man, I'm not real familiar with the fitment of the true duels on the soft tail but looking at the pics from GlennDK and Tom it looks like the OP would need to change out a shift rod as well. Is that right?

With Samsons you do and they provide one.
If he goes with the Bassanis it doesn't look like he will need one.

Ohh thats some good info..
I think i will go samson. And the shift rod will be shifted.
Just be sure is OP short for something??

And just too be clear.. The issue on fitment has nothing too do with space issue between the rear cylinder and oil tank and the frame in there??
Its only a matter off i will be drilling some holes and shifting rod?
What year off fitment can i buy? Up to 1995?

OP = original poster.

I can guarantee you that you would be drilling and taping holes on a '95.
