I like the EV-38 cam. For no other reason than it opens up early, but not too early. Those of you who have a Tach know that you drive in a specific RPM range. The 38 begins where I ride. (Other than deceleration) And it pulls into the useable range of highway RPM's. The exhaust is opened a little longer to cool Exhaust valve temps and lower oil temp I'm told. I'm also know that Andrews no longer list it, but will let you order one if they don't have one in stock.
I also like the wisdom of a friend who installed a 51 in his stock Softail. He considers it a good stage two cam. If you are going to open up your engine head wise, the 51 is a good place to jump from. It will tolerate more cubes if you decide. He currently runs it with stock springs, and adj pushrods. No internal engine work. Andrews used to say you needed to do head work, but they no longer do so.

EV27 here. The factory pushrods sounded like a jackhammer after buying the bike. So I cut the pushrods and pulled the cam and turns out the bike already had an EV46 in it. And as a bonus the bearing was already replaced. Anyway putting new adjustables in and the cam it is now perfectly quiet. As I feel it was the tubes and NOT the EV46 causing the noise.

Put the S&S 640 in a 127" Ultima advertised as 10.2 corrected, had the compression raised and the 640 loved it and stupid giddy up but hard to start even with compression releases. Pulled it back to stock compression, only remember from the calculator that the 640 with Ultima rockers was bigger and cubic inch was at 130" now, don't remember static but very streetable and starts easier
