Default Tach not reading right?

I just installed a s s super e carb and a crane single fire ignition on my 89 fltc. I had to splice in that Harley harness so I could plug in the crane cdi. Runs awesome but the tach only goes up to 1500 Rpms. I'm sure it has to do with something that I've done. What should I be checking? Is the tach electrical rather than a cable like the speedo?

Did you install the adapter you have to use with a single fire ignition?

The tach is triggered off the green wire.
And yes it's electrical not mechanical.

Can you post a link to what exactly you put on your bike?

yup...heres the cdi
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Harley-Touri...1V71-p&vxp=mtr
I also installed the crane single fire coil.....and spliced in the Harley add on wiring harness so that has the plug like the newer Harleys to plug in the cdi...

ill trace out the green wire and see whats up...its getting a reading but it must not be a good connection somewhere cause its only going up to 1500rpms and when crusing its at 1000

Not what I was talking about.
When I bought my Drag mini tach it came with a small box that I was supposed to use if I ran a single fire cam.

Ah ha! The brown wire! I thought I did wire it like the instructions said but I'll give it another look. That's gotta be it though. Thanks

Just checked. I f'd up. Didn't put it to the brown wire out of the cdi. It's the green wire that comes out of the cam cover right?
