showing off finished project
Finally finished putting this together since getting the frame in March. Anguished much over what to do with the motor, decided to put it back together as I got it.
The final result is that indeed the ev 51 cam is too much even with the shaved heads, but although not reaching the full potential of the cam, it's not a total dog.
I have an album on my profile page with more pictures if your interested.

What else did you do to the motor or is it stock otherwise?

For sure it won't win any races, and probably I'll change the cam to one with less duration; hell I still can't decide, maybe I'll do pistons! Right now I'm just enjoying the softail and the sound of the evo again, been riding rigids for the last eight years; last four of them with the tc96.

I didn't do anything but take it apart to see what was there and put it back together. It came with the cam and shaved heads. All the advise leaned toward the cam being too big, but I finally decided to just put it back together and see for myself.

I think you need around 10-1 to enjoy that cam.
Nice job on the bike by the way.

For the life of me, I'm okay with math, I cannot figure how you got the motor and frame square with such a long front end. Everything looks level and proper. The neck ain't that far up, the rake looks about stock. How? Spill it, please.
Good paint too,
Tom

Andrews says 9.5 minimum, 10 would be better your right. I decided that if anything I would just change the cam if it was too slow. If I need to go faster I'll ride the twincam.
