Weird electrical gremlin
Hi all.
Could anyone point me in the direction of this frustrating electrical problem. Its a 1995 RK
I was out for a ride a week or so back, everything normal. Stop for a coffee and when I returned to the bike it fired up, again as normal. After riding for a couple hundred yards it pops and cuts out. I press the starter button and nothing, although I have ignition lights, the starter doesn't engage. Removed the seat, all the terminals are secure on the battery and the battery is only a couple of week old.
Try the starter again and she fires straight up. This happens every couple hundred yards.
I managed to get home, went out for a ride today and was out for about an hour. parked up at a friends house for a couple of minutes, started up just fine, but before I change in to second gear the engine cuts out and I have to go through the same process every couple hundred yards or so??????
As I say I have ignition lights but when you press the button its like its not switched on
Sorry to go on, but any ideas?
Thanks

Sounds electrical and for something 20 years old, bet it's the mechanical part of electrical. My guess is it the kill switch on the bars or the key switch. Get it running normal and wiggle them to see if it will kill motor. The starter side does not keep motor from running but killing the two mentioned parts will keep it from running and starting.

Hi. I changed the battery as the other one died. Went to start her up one afternoon and all I got was the slow turn over and then the dreaded clicking.
This new battery is fine as the starter cranks over great

Thanks for the advice, makes sense, I will check it out after work. Got to be something along those lines to be so intermittent.
Cheers
