Default 1990 FLTCU Windshield

Hey everyone - I am new to the HD forum and Harley ownership. I recently purchased a 90 FLTCU with stock 21" windshield. Hate the height - want something in the 6-12 inch range.

What are my options? <-- without hacking down the OEM...

Thanks in advance,

Alex

there are plenty of them cheap on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/86-95-Harley...bdeb6c&vxp=mtr

I had an 05 an I had a freedom shield. they run $100 but they kinda flair away from the rider so it kicks airflow higher than a standard windshield. I liked this because I could run a 6" one I could see over but a regular 6" would kick the airflow right into my face.
I don't know what options you have with a 90 though.

I think that is my issue - there are few choices for me for the 90 models...I could purchase a replacement "8 inch" = which I think is really a 16...I have a 21 and that is just way too tall.

I may windup purchasing a new shorter windshield and modifying the existing.

I just put a Long Ride Shields screen on mine. Went with the 9". Their sizing advice was to have the top of the shield hit right at nose-level to the rider. Seems to work well. A bit more buffeting than the stocker (which I believe is 12", not 21") at certain speeds, but well worth it for a shield you can see over rather than through.

They are an HD Forum sponsor, and offer a discount to members. Nice folks, there.

+1 on the Long Ride Shields.
They are great guys and make a good product.
Just one thing don't use locktight on the windshield bolts.
For some reason it causes the windshield to crack.
