That would take all the fun out of a ride for me.
Fix it so that there is no play in that snap ring and you should be fine.

Maybe set the new snap ring in place with a touch of loctite in groove to help keep it from rotating for a little peace of mind?

Didn't think of that. Little green bearing retainer? Would that work?

Like your idea thanks! Made me wonder if I should have blue loctite on the adjuster nut or not too. I don't have any on there. Does anyone loctite that?

No need for loctite.
The jam nut holds it.

Should. Didn't last time. Still think it's mad at me but I won't loctite it!

If it didn't hold you didn't tighten it enough.
Have you got a bent wrench to get a better grip or a socket with a nut welded on the end of it?

Used a wrench on the nut and an Allen in the other part. It's tight now. Book says 10 ft lbs but in sure it's tighter. How tight I don't know. I can get a box end on it fine just hits a nut every couple inches so I readjust it.

A drop of Loctite at each corner where the chunk is missing wouldn't hurt.
Have done a couple things similarly.
As pointed out that snap ring ain't right. If it's the right size it should be hard to even rotate it much less do what is in the video.
