It's easy to change once you get the inner primary off.

Man seriously just change the outer primary seal and if that doesn't work then remove the inner primary and change all the seals.

Default Primary leak?

I ordered everything. $40. I need to get the inner off to get the shifter shaft out anyways. This will be my last time in there!

Have some down time now waiting for gaskets. Blacked out the triple trees, think I'll have to do the rear fender supports and turn signals now. Still want that fat boy front end, it's just so anorexic looking up front.

Default Primary leak?

Guys, when I get the primary apart tonight will I be able to see if the jackshaft seal is leaking before I tear the inner primary off? I will have al the seals needed by tomorrow but if I can avoid the full tear down I think I might.

If you have either a small mirror on a stick or one of those mechanics cameras that shows you a video then you pretty much have to take off the inner primary to see for sure.

If you bought the metal/foam primary gasket then you can reuse those over and over so as I said before just replace the primary gasket and see what that does for you.

Default Primary leak?

I bought a paper with silicone bead so nope. But I was reading you can cut the shaft without removing the inner so was looking to save some time. I'll see if I can fit something back there to see. Thanks

Default Primary leak?

Found the leak. Not quite sure what went wrong here. Explains the whine I heard. Thoughts?? Jackshaft leaking as well. Looks like the oil seal for the inner primary mangled itself. I can't make sense of it.

Edit...I think I had to have installed the seal backwards? Everything else looks find. This is the one seal I didn't buy. It's a double lip what side would the washer metal side go? Facing primary or facing inside to trans?

A good rule of thumb is the spring goes towards the fluid.
Look inside the inner lip and you should see a small spring.

Default Primary leak?

Has 2 one on each side it's a double lip. I can't find the instructions online. It's all ***** 25-3102

It was definitely rubbing. I can't remember which way it was on now but one way it slides in easy so I think it was washer side towards the trans vs washer side towards the primary. Not sure what to do now. figures it's the only seal I didn't order. It is still snug on the main shaft I think it could be reused if I can figure out what way it should be installed for sure

I've got some extra ones for my '95 Heritage.
If they will fit I could send you a couple.
I wouldn't reuse that seal myself.
