Clutch just **** the Bed???
Riding home today, everything is going fine, pulled up to a stop light, light changes and I start to pull off, NO CLUTCH. I have an open primary so, I can see the pressure plate moving but, very little friction. I finally got it home and checked the adjustment on both the cable and at the pressure plate, everything seems fine. Pulled the pressure plate and check the friction disks and they have a very small amount of material on them. The steel plates seem fine but, I have no clutch. Is it normal for this to go bad suddenly? I would think that if there is still material on the friction plates, you should be able to adjust this and keep going but, not in this case. Thoughts??????

Unknown. The bike is an 06, supposedly had about 10,000 + miles when I got it but, I don't know that for sure. I now have a tad over 30,000 on it. It is a BDL primary with the round dog clutch basket (quite clutch). The friction plates are definitely worn on the "round outer edge, meaning elongated instead of a nice half moon shape but, I've never had a clutch go this quick.

The transmission is a Baker 5 speed. Ya think the throw out bearing would be bad this soon? The clutch plates are pretty worn, structural wise. The "round dogs" on the plates are very elongated. Also, there are ridges on the friction plates where they fit into the clutch basket. I'm wondering if the ridges could be keeping the plates from getting good contact with the steels? I was running down an interstate at between 75 and 80 mph just before this happened.

Drained the transmission, Pulled the cover to have a look see while waiting on parts. Throw out bearing looks perfect, spins with ease, no pieces or parts in the cover. I may be missing something but, looks like I didn't need this after all.
