It depends on how bad it is leaking.
If it is only a seep then you are good to go.
If it is pouring out then get them fixed but make sure they use Cometic gaskets.

I think my last set of base gaskets cost me about $70.
Those $1200 ones ought to be great!!!!!!!!

If they had to tell you they are leaking, then it isn't much of a leak. Unless you're really poor at observation of such things. My opinion is they want your $1200. My rear base gasket seeps a little, but I don't want to go into the motor until I have more reason.

You could get a whole lot more for $1200 then just base gaskets. I wouldnt use that dealer anymore.. Find a good independent. Like others said though if it's just a little seepage run it

Base gasket seepage is normally a small annoyance at best unless you are a clean freak.

$1,200!!!! Wow

My Indy is replacing every gasket from the base up for $450. I would look for a new shop.

My 98 ultra leaked for a few years before I fixed it. You will be fine. Maybe try to find a local Indy (independent mechanic) to check it out.
