Default Will Sportster wheels fit Evo Softails?

Ran into a guy who has a set of wheels off a Sportster (not sure which year) who said he "thinks" they will fit the softails. I know the rear wheel may be a stretch, but what about the front? It is a single brake 21.

I am assuming you a arealkg about out an evo softail. The front wheel on a softail has a timken bearing in the front wheel and not a sealed bearing. So for starters it will need to be timken to make it easier and the right axel size. Then you will need a norrow glide to wideglide wheel adapter for the brake to lign up. Cce makes a kit for that. As far as the rear wheel. The same applies as far as the bearings go. I found that it is very close in the rear but it didn't work perfectly due to hub width for the setup I wanted to run. You can make them fit but it's about how much work you would like to do to make it fit

Default compared 1998's

I took a look at the HLSM PARTS SITE for the front rim, they use the same bearings so the axle diameter would be the same. the inner spacer is different probably because the rim hub might be narrower. Take a measurement and that should tell you but you'll still need the spacer for the sportster. The brake disk is the same so that will bolt up no problem however might need shiming if the hub is narrower for proper alignment to the caliper. You can always get the right spacers to center the wheel, just check the height to the fender clearance. And don't forget the the difference in the width of the rim is a full inch so a narrower tire will be necessary. Looks like it will work however not sure about the rear.

The rear Sporty wheels AFAIK do not use the larger pulley bolts that are used on the big twins. I suspect that the hub is not as wide, so won't fill the swingarm.
