Default Rainy Sunday afternoon tech tip

So I'm waiting for the new rear brake rotor and pads to come in. Thought I'd get a head start on the job so I took the rear wheel and rotor off.

No way that rotor was coming off with anything less than my Ingersoll Rand impact wrench set all the way up. Had to fight those rotor bolts all the way off too. I don't know what that creme colored thread locker is that HD uses but it sure doesn't like to give it up.

That impact wrench was some money very well spent. If you don't have one, get one.

I usually loosen the bolts with the wheel still on the bike, in gear with the brake on.

Some heat helps to break that thread locker down too...

That's why I use blue locktite and check the bolts every once in a while. I've never found a loose one and when it's time to pull the rotors the fight isn't too bad. I have done this for years and never once had a problem.

I'm going back with blue Loctite tonight if the parts get here. I believe the torque spec is 45 ft/lbs. That sound about right to everybody?
