Drain Plug Drama in East Auckland
Got a text from Kees last night, he had got all keen and was doing an oil change prior to the Roast Duck Rally in a coupla weeks....he took out the drain plug and the thread came with it...oooops!
I reassured him that it is an easy fix and he went to Repco (NAPA type deal) and got a 14mm generic drain plug for a car and a 14 x 1.5 pitch tap (total cost 56NZD)
He carefully cut the new thread with a very greasy tap, and on my advice flushed the sump with gasoline, fitted the new drain plug, put the old oil back in and took it for a ride so the oil and any residual gas mixed.
He then did the oil and filter as per normal and he is smiling again
All's well that ends well, even he does ride a wheelbarrow and own a caravan.
