Default Not another cam thread

Stock 92 Heritage Softail with a Super E carb and Kerker 2 into 1 exhaust. Which cam do you guys recommend and why? I tried the search function but it sucks. I don't want to change anything other than the lifters and the cam (and cam bearing) I'm looking for a straight bolt in cam that doesn't require clearencing or machine work. I don't ride aggressively, just prefer low to mid range torque. Currently with this stock cam she is a slug. There are so many options and the grinds are so close together that it's hard to make a decision. Thanks in advance!

I guarantee that 2 cams will come to the fore as this thread gets answered, the Andrews EV27 and the V Thunder EVL-3020, both will give you what you need.

As I said in the other thread I put a EV-27 in my '95 Heritage and it did wonders for the performance.

EV-13 does well for down low & midrange. EVL-3010 would work, also. Wouldn't be afraid of a HQ-0024 Rumble Stick. All good cams for heavy loaded bikes & bolt in.

Are your base gaskets leaking? Go with Wood w6 and adjustable pushrods or ev-27 and stock rods. If they ain't leaking then i would go with the w6. Bob Wood will give 100% tech support and all the reccomendations for your exact bike. Bob will not listen to complaints with stock pushrods as he says your bike will whine like you're doing on the phone.
It is an awesome cam, I upgraded from an ev23.

My Google research left me with a headache, for every good comment about a particular cam I found a negative comment. It's getting harder to make an informed decision on the old interweb. I have a feeling Spanners is right, most seem to agree on the EV27 but I wanted to get a little more input before I made a decision. Thanks Guys!

Ok i will try and explain one item
andrews 27
crane fireball 310
woods 25
all have a Lobe center on the cam chart i supplied its 102 when you add the two together and divide by 2 you get the advertised Lobe center and 102 is a cam that gives off idle to around 4500 RPMs it will rev more but you can see what is happening with a dyno sooo

the cheaper of the 3 is the andrews 27 and you re use your original pushrods so no adjustment to go away

Intake valve closing is a major factor in setting up an engine. The earlier the intake closing, the more cranking compression is made which a stock Evo is weak in that area. Many factors come in as John is speaking off and get overwhelming when choosing a cam.

EV27 has a early intake closing to build more compression with some aggressive lobes for quicker valve opening. Can be noisy if not set up right but has been the most popular cam in Evo history.

Woods W6 has a intake closing that is slightly later than the EV27 but has some serious steep lobes, I call them a square lobed cam or a race type profile, produces the most power but has to have detail in setting it up. Can be really noisy if not set up right to where you will pull the Woods cam out but rewarding when right. Running one in a engine and best power as advertised.

Vthunder 3020 produces good power without using steep lobes and less stress on a valve train, not a bad cam for everyday riding in the real world.
