Default Don't ignore that new ticking sound!

The bike was slowly developing a tick,.. well a different sounding tick, as the reman engine I installed 22,000 miles ago, always had a sewing machine sounding valve train.
It was more evident when warm, not really louder, just different sound.

So this was my que to get that constipated n grind out of there and drop in a EV13, lifters, cam bearing, and adjustable pushrods, and try to find the tick.

Glad I did, one lifter roller had excessive play, all needle bearings still in place and accounted for.

Just a heads up.

And Hatch was right, the bike snorts out the hole, and I now know what an Iguana bark sounds like!

No, but I'll be wearing chaps and waving at other bikes on our ride tonight while the OL is reaching around to keep her hands warm.

22K on a reman? That ain't a very good advert for remans when there are bikes out there with 80K on the lifters.

That's what I was thinking, and this bike is not beat on at all, rarely ever see's over 4000rpm.

The one lifter was the only thing with any sign of wear.

I have 85,000 on my remanned motor without incident. Then again I replace my lifters at 40,000 (I had an old style lifter fail at 46,000 miles, so I'm a bit paranoid).

Was it the front exhaust lifter by any chance? looks like one axle missed heat treatment, to me.

It was the rear intake, I went back with oem lifters.
I'll take a look at them in another 20,000, just for peace of mind, if nothing comes up before then.
