Default Inverted Swing Arm To Lower

I've searched for a thread that includes the "how to" successfully flip a swing arm on a bagger and i haven't found any good detailed info / pics. I thought it'd be nice to have one so I started this thread. Also I'm having a tough time bolting my shocks and rear wheel adjusters back up now that mines upside down.

Good luck with that! Hopefully, it'll work out. If it doesn't, you can always flip it back around and get short air shocks.

I did it to my '86 in '88. If I remember right I had to use longer bolts and spacers on the bottom to get the shock away from the swing arm. I also used thinner spacers on top to help straighten out the shock. Make sure you don't space them out into the bags. I don't remember any problems with the adjusters. What issues are you having?

Here are a couple of shots of my '94. I don't recall if there were frame changes between the years. I didn't have any issues with my shocks or adjusters. I do have a chain for my final drive. Your adjusters should slide in and out freely - can you put the axle in without the wheel and move them ?

I had it upside down already.....I just couldn't figure out a good way to mount up the 3 hole brackets that attach the shocks and belt adjusters to the back of the swing ARM. I think some spacers will work if I try it again in the future. My saddle bags and everything else are at the paint shop so I couldn't work out the correct size spacers in order to keep the shocks away from the bags. Thanks for the help......I'll be attempting it again soon, I'm just ready to get back on the road

ummm..I think you're trying to "double lower" it. The 3 hole bracket is used to lower the rear on a stock swing arm. If you flip the swingarm, toss the brackets. Use the stock mounting holes and the stock adjusters.
