Default Dyna S Ignition

Ok guys I am getting closer to firing this ole girl up, however in need of some help! Bought a Dyna S ignition and am unable to figure out how to attach the advance thingy to the cam shaft??? The original screw is to short for the thing and instructions say to slide it over a shaft some where??? I have once again been stumped so came here for some answers. I have attached a few pictures as well.
Thanks again,

Original advance thingy...

This is what is supposed to be in there now

Uhhhh.... Looks like you still have the timing cup installed on the cam shaft. ?

The Dyna S unit requires a mechanical flyweight advance identical to a breaker points system. https://www.denniskirk.com/american-...rd/2012534.sku

Some makes of units have needle bearings, this one doesn't but whatever you do, stay away from cheap ones. Some of the other guys may have better recommendations for the best brand/type.

Yup, stock cup comes out, a good quality mechanical advance goes in to replace it, unit above is about as good as is available anymore. Don't cheap out on it .

The other units (stock or D2ki/Ultima) have "ears" that protrude inward - go over the stock cup and trigger via the windows on the cup

Yes. The flyweight unit is about the same thickness as the rotor cup. It will have an index notch for the cam, like the cup. Your S rotor will hook onto a flyweight ear, long bolt goes in last....

Good luck with the Dyna S.
I bought one once and couldn't get it to work at all so I sent it to Dyna for testing and it turned out that it was bad out of the box.
FWIW I'm a big fan of the Dyna 2ki ignitions.
