Default 98 Heritage Softail rider seat backrest removal

Anyone know how to get this backrest off the rider seat? Took off the bags, brackets, passenger backrest, and passenger seat. Trying to get the backrest off the stock mustang rider seat now. It's giving me a fit.

Mustang has always been an aftermarket seat.
The rider back rest on my Mustang seat just pulls straight up to remove it.

Not sure which part you are pulling on but the only parts that remove are the backrest and shank that stabs into the seat.
That looks exactly like mine.

Sorry, I can't help with your question.

But my lower back is telling me I should be looking into buying one of those seats with a backrest.
