Default Stator Plug Removal needed to access oil filter?

Just finished changing the oil on my 96' Road King. This is the first time changing the oil filter since I had a new stator installed. The new plug seems to stick out a bit further than my old one.

Normally I can change the filters without touching the stator plug. This time I had to pull the stator plug out to get the old filter off.

Is this normal? I was able to snap the plug back in but it doesn't seem overly tight.

Don’t like the look of that new plug. Just gives me sore eyes for some reason LOL

That isn't the stator plug, that's the crankshaft position sensor and someone really cobbled it up.

Yep, my bad. Crank sensor. (had stator on the brain since I just had it replaced) It's toast. I'm the one who buggered it. My wife pulled me out of the garage right after I finished changing the oil. Went out this morning and it won't start.

Guess I'll be shopping for a replacement tomorrow. Hopefully I can find one quick. Big trip coming up Friday.
