You're quite right to highlight it. When retrofitting stuff from new to older bikes, as I have done quite a bit, we each have to make decisions on how we get them to work and the adaptations we need to do. The perfect solution in the case of Brembos is to replace the entire braking system, but for some of us that is a step too far. In my case its early days, so I'll see how I get on with my set-up.

Just mild modded my fxr as well. Did a stage one upgrade kit to the carb. Ultima single fire ignition. Ev27. Kept the stock pipes though, but there a ton of 2 into 1 exhausts now. Bassani. Thrasher. Two brothers etc. simple mods made the engine a rocket for such a light bike.

Thanks for your input. Do you feel the EV27 pulls as strong or stronger than your stock cam from idle to midrange (2800ish) ?

Right now, my recomendation to my brother is Andrews EV13, new 2:1 pipes, carb rejet, and an upgraded ignition module. He can keep his S&S air cleaner assembly.

This light mods should make a very noticeable improvement over stock and I think he'll be happy with the additional power for cruising around both solo and 2 up.

OK, I'm ready to start sourcing parts.

Anyone have a favorite 2:1 exhaust for this upgrade? Supertrapp looks nice, and is adjustable for sound/power.

Ignition upgrade? Crane, Ultima, ?

Thunderheader makes sweet music, and the Ultima ignition (but not their coil) is a favorite here as well as a good deal.

I have a Supertrapp SuperMegs. Gives excellent torque throughout the rev range and the engine runs remarkably smoothly as a bonus.

I don't understand the dislike of the CV either. There's nothing wrong with it and it will easily handle numbers into the 90's if adjusted correctly. Mine is built and I'm consistently in the mid 40's for MPG.
