Default rocker box gasket on 05fxst

how hard is it to replace the rocker box gasket / seal ( front ) its leaking oil ever since i switched to synthetic. is it pretty straight forward i have the manual from harley any advice greatly appriecated thanks

With the manual, a piece of cake; even a caveman can do it.

EDIT: Could be you just need to re-torque the bolts.

Yeah...Its a very easy job. Should take an hour and half if you go real slow!

make sure you get the right kit for your model and year bike though.

Make sure you have the book. If you are going after the lower rocker box gasket you'll be removing and installing the rocker arm support plate and you want to make sure you do this correctly including tightening all bolts to the proper torque in the proper sequence. The HD service manual will give you all of this info.

yes i have the book already looking at it and reading thinking about doing both ut i think only the top Rb gasket is leaking though

If the lower is not leaking, don't bother. If it ain't broke.......................

decided to 1st just to take the bolts out add a touch of blue loctite to the thread sand re torque down to specs clean up the engine and wait to see if it still leaks if it dont great if it does then i will replace the gasket will let you all know how it turns out thanks again

well i took the Tank off sun and pull each bolt one at a time and put loctite on and when i got them all in and snug went bac and torqued them in order to book specs so far no leaks but ive only been riding it around town will keep an eye on it for a few weeks
