Default Riding in light rain without rain sock over filter

Well, were all set to head out for big ride this weekend. On my 2008 Street Glide I have a Zippers Maxflow deeper air filter over my SE stage 1 intake. Lately, I have been riding the bike without the rain cover/sock over it. I try not to head out if I know there's going to be a down pour. I just wanted to ask if anyone here has ever been out riding with these type of open air filters, be it the Zipper's style round, or the SE Heavy Breather without a rain cover on them. Did you have problems with the bike running poorly or stalling ? I am going to bring the cover with me on this trip. I just find lately that it seems to run better without the sock on the filter. Any thoughts ?
Thanks in advance,

Joe

I'm running the maxflow with the stock cover on my 08 flhtcu with no problems in the rain. It only gets wet at a stop on the road it stayed dry.

2012 Super Glide. Got caught in a downpour with the SE sock on the Heavy Breather. Started running crappy so I pulled into a rest area and afterward it continued to run rough at idle. Under warranty so I took it in. Was the throttle position sensor. Now I avoid heavy rain and use the sock in all rain.

Thanks fellas; yeah, it doesn't take long to put that sock at all, just a few minutes. I haven't had the stock football cover over the deeper filter ever, so I'm wondering if that may hinder leg movement even more. Better to be safe than sorry I guess....
Thanks,

Joe
