Wish I would've known better....I just installed the SE set.

You did the right thing. The later models run the outer cam bearings in the parent material of the plate but the early cam plates ran them in outer cam bearings. So a pump only upgrade and replacing the tensioner shoes on an early model is a cost effective way to a cam upgrade without spending the $$ for one of the SE kits. You could have replace the pump only but replacing the OEM plate with the billet plate has an upside.
