Help with motor rebuild
#11
Thanks I told them just to go back stock 103 and I will play with it myself. Im thinking about ordering some cams 1st then maybe doing heads. I realy would like to get my hands wet on the motor end of things. I did a bunch of cosmetic things to my bike and had a blast doing it. I like the idea of getting rid of those cam chain tensioner so im thinking of getting the S&S gear drive cams 570 what do you guys think?

There are two forum sponsors that have both built motors around the 570 cams; maybe they will chime in.

Checking runout is a simple task. A good place to start to familiarize yourself with your vtwin motor. Google "Harley crank runout" and you will find more than you ever wanted to know about runout. Having said that, there is nothing stopping you from retaining the chain drive system and proceeding with your plan. The 570C is the chain drive version of the 570 cams. Roll on!
