Default My bike wont start and im at a lose on what to do, please help

I know i need a battery but i have my bike hooked up to a battery charger that will omit 12 volts. but all i hear is a click sound, i know the fuel pump pumps when i go to start it but nothing else happens when i hit the ignition button other than my lights get brighter. i need to find the source of my problem cause i dont want to be in more money then its worth, but i dont want to scap it either. it is a 1988 suzuki intruder, i know its not a harley but i built the body into a chopper and im very proud of it.

have the battery load tested. you need 12 volts to start your bike but in addition you need cranking amps. If the battery is bad it could show 12 volts but the only way to tell if it's got the amps you need it to have it load tested. Bring it to autozone or some place like that.

The click sound is the starter solenoid engaging, however it is likely that the battery doesn't have enough power to operate the starter. The solenoid and fuel pump do not require much power to work, but the starter needs tons! You actually need more than 12volts.

Get your battery load tested, as Ultra suggested. If it is on its last legs buy a new one.
